Battle of Okeechobee Reenactment 2027 — Okeechobee Battlefield Historic State Park
On Christmas Day 1837, the largest battle of the Second Seminole War was fought on the marshy ground just northeast of Lake Okeechobee. Every winter, the Battle of Okeechobee Reenactment brings that day back to life on the actual ground where it happened — Okeechobee Battlefield Historic State Park.
Reenactors in period dress make camp on both sides, portraying Colonel Zachary Taylor’s federal troops and the Seminole warriors led by Alligator, Sam Jones and Wild Cat. The main engagement is staged each afternoon with live narration and cannon fire. Between battles you can walk the encampments, talk with living-history demonstrators, watch traditional craft and weapons demonstrations, and browse period sutlers and Seminole exhibitors.
